Preventive Care

Diagnostic & Exams

Practices and treatments aimed at maintaining good oral health and preventing dental problems before they develop or worsen is our priority. It’s a proactive approach that focuses on avoiding issues such as cavities, gum disease, enamel wear, and other tissue and dental conditions.

Professional Dental Cleanings

Regular professional cleanings do more than just keep your teeth looking great they’re essential for preventing cavities, gum disease, and other oral health issues. At our office, we take cleanings to the next level with state-of-the-art tools and techniques.

  • Removal of plaque and tartar: Buildup that brushing and flossing alone can’t handle.
  • Ultrasonic scaler technology: For more effective and comfortable removal of hardened tartar using gentle vibrations and water.
  • Laser-assisted cleanings (when appropriate): To target bacteria and promote healthier gums with less irritation and faster healing.
  • Polishing for a refreshed smile: To leave your teeth smooth, clean, and refreshed
  • Early detection of gum inflammation or decay
    • Recommended: Every 6 months or as tailored to you based on your unique oral health needs.
Radiation-Free Dental X-rays

We use advanced, radiation-free X-ray technology to safely and comfortably detect dental issues that aren’t visible during a standard exam. This cutting-edge system allows us to:

  • Spot cavities between teeth
  • Monitor impacted or developing teeth
  • Diagnose other hidden problems before they become serious
  • Identify early signs of bone loss

Because our system is completely radiation-free, it’s ideal for children, pregnant patients, and those seeking a safer, more comfortable diagnostic experience without compromising on accuracy or detail. Your safety and health are our top priorities, and our commitment to using the latest technology ensures you get the best care possible.

Panoramic & CBCT Imaging

At May Dental, we utilize advanced imaging technologies to provide precise and comprehensive diagnosis for your dental care.

Panoramic X-rays

  • Provide a broad, two-dimensional view of the entire mouth, including teeth, jaws, sinuses, and surrounding structures.
  • Ideal for detecting impacted teeth, jaw disorders, bone abnormalities, and planning treatments like implants or orthodontics.
  • Quick, painless, and low-radiation procedure.

Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT)

  • Offers a detailed, three-dimensional (3D) view of your teeth, bone, nerves, and soft tissues.
  • Essential for complex diagnostics such as implant planning, root canal therapy, evaluation of jaw tumors or cysts, and assessment of airway issues.
  • Enables more accurate treatment planning and better outcomes.

Using these cutting-edge imaging techniques, our team can diagnose problems early, plan precise treatments, and ensure the best possible results for your oral health.

Mouth-guards vs. Night-guards

Mouthguards: Are designed to protect your teeth, lips, and gums from injury during sports or physical activities. They cushion blows to the face and reduce the risk of broken teeth or other oral injuries.

Nightguards: Are used while sleeping to prevent damage caused by teeth grinding or jaw clenching (a condition known as bruxism). They help reduce tooth wear, jaw pain, and headaches associated with bruxism.

Dental Sealants

Dental sealants are thin, protective coatings applied to the chewing surfaces of back teeth (molars and premolars) to help prevent tooth decay. These areas are more prone to cavities due to deep grooves that can trap food and bacteria.

  • Sealants act as a barrier, shielding enamel from plaque and acids.
  • They are quick, painless, and non-invasive to apply.
  • Most commonly used in children and teens, shortly after permanent molars come in.
  • Also recommended for adults at higher risk for cavities, especially those with deep grooves or a history of decay.

Sealants can last several years and are a simple yet highly effective way to maintain long-term dental health.

Fluoride Treatments

What it does:
Strengthens tooth enamel and helps prevent cavities.

Who it’s for:
Commonly provided during routine cleanings, especially for children- but also beneficial for adults at higher risk of decay.

Why it’s important

  • Helps reverse early stages of tooth decay
  • Provides long-lasting protection between visits
  • Safe, quick, and painless

Key Features

  • Superior Esthetics: Feldspathic porcelain allows for delicate layering, resulting in veneers with remarkable depth, translucency, and a natural sheen.
  • Custom Crafted: Each veneer is meticulously handcrafted by skilled dental technicians to perfectly match your tooth shape, color, and smile design.
  • Minimal Tooth Reduction: Requires conservative preparation of the tooth, preserving more of the natural enamel compared to other types of veneers.
  • Durable and Long-Lasting: When properly cared for, feldspathic veneers provide durable and stain-resistant results, maintaining your bright smile for years.
  • Biocompatible: Feldspathic porcelain is highly biocompatible, promoting healthy gum tissue and reducing the risk of irritation.

Ideal For: Patients seeking the highest quality, natural-looking veneers for cosmetic enhancement including discoloration, minor misalignment, chips, or gaps.

White Fillings / Resin Veneers

Composite Veneers for Anterior Teeth: Composite veneers represent a sophisticated and conservative cosmetic dentistry option designed exclusively for the enhancement of anterior (front) teeth. Utilizing high-quality tooth-colored composite resin, these veneers restore aesthetics by addressing discoloration, minor structural imperfections, and shape irregularities while preserving natural tooth structure.

Cosmetic Composite Restorations for posterior teeth: Cosmetic composite restorations employ advanced tooth-colored resin materials to restore and enhance the natural appearance of teeth compromised by decay, trauma, or aesthetic concerns. This conservative and versatile treatment option offers a seamless integration with existing dentition, delivering both functional and esthetic benefits.

Key Advantages:

  • Highly Esthetic: Composite resin closely mimics the optical properties of natural enamel, providing restorations that are virtually indistinguishable from surrounding teeth.
  • Conservative Approach: Preservation of healthy tooth structure is prioritized through minimal preparation, promoting long-term tooth integrity.
  • Versatility: Effectively addresses a range of dental issues, including carious lesions, fractured or chipped teeth, diastemas, and minor shape corrections.
  • Efficient Treatment: Procedures are typically completed in a single appointment, minimizing patient discomfort and chair time.
  • Durability and Maintenance: Composite restorations offer excellent longevity with proper care and can be readily repaired or polished to maintain optimal appearance.

Clinical Indications: Ideal for patients seeking a durable, esthetic solution that conserves natural tooth tissue while enhancing smile aesthetics.

Anterior Layered Porcelain Crowns

Natural-looking, long-lasting restorations for your front teeth – Layered porcelain crowns are premium restorations designed to restore and enhance the front (anterior) teeth. These crowns are crafted using a strong ceramic base with hand-layered porcelain on top, giving them a lifelike appearance that blends beautifully with your natural smile.

Why choose layered porcelain crowns?

  • Highly Aesthetic: The layering technique creates a natural look with depth, shine, and translucency—just like real teeth.
  • Strong and Durable: Built on a high-strength ceramic foundation, these crowns provide lasting protection and function.
  • Metal-Free & Biocompatible: Safe for your body and gentle on your gums, with no risk of metal showing at the gumline.
  • Custom Fit: Each crown is individually designed to match your surrounding teeth in shape, size, and shade.

Ideal for – Patients who want to restore or improve the appearance of chipped, discolored, worn, or previously treated front teeth with a natural and elegant result.

Tooth-Supported Cosmetic Bridges

A tooth-supported bridge is a fixed dental restoration used to replace one or more missing teeth. It is anchored to the natural teeth on either side of the gap and designed to blend seamlessly with your smile.

Benefits:

  • Natural, tooth-colored appearance
  • Fixed in place – no need to remove
  • Restores chewing, speaking, and smile confidence
  • Prevents shifting of surrounding teeth

A great option for patients seeking a durable, aesthetic alternative to removable dentures or implants.

Dental Implants

Single Tooth Replacement – Nobel Biocare Dental Implants

Nobel Biocare dental implants provide a reliable and natural-looking solution for replacing a single missing tooth. These implants are precision-engineered titanium posts that are surgically placed into the jawbone, acting as artificial tooth roots.

Why Choose Nobel Biocare Implants?

  • Proven Reliability: Nobel Biocare is a global leader in implant dentistry with decades of clinical success and cutting-edge technology.
  • Natural Function and Appearance: The implant integrates with your jawbone to provide a stable foundation for a custom-made crown that looks, feels, and functions like a natural tooth.
  • Preserves Bone Health: Dental implants stimulate the jawbone, preventing bone loss that often occurs after tooth loss.
  • Comfort and Longevity: Unlike traditional bridges, implants do not require alteration of adjacent teeth and can last a lifetime with proper care.
  • Advanced Materials and Design: Nobel Biocare implants use biocompatible materials and innovative surface treatments to enhance osseointegration and healing.

Treatment Overview:
After implant placement, a healing period allows the implant to fuse with the bone. A custom crown is then attached, restoring your smile with durable, natural-looking results.

All-on-4 Hybrid Implant Bridge – Nobel Biocare

The All-on-4 technique uses four strategically placed implants to support a full-arch, fixed bridge. This advanced solution is ideal for patients missing all upper or lower teeth.

Benefits:

  • Fixed (non-removable) full-arch restoration
  • Natural look, feel, and function
  • Often placed same day as surgery
  • Eliminates need for traditional dentures
  • Improved comfort, speech, and chewing ability

This solution combines the stability of implants with the convenience of a full-arch bridge—restoring confidence and quality of life in a single treatment.

Oral Surgery

Tooth Extractions

Extractions are performed when a tooth is severely damaged, decayed, or impacted and cannot be saved.

  • Performed with local anesthesia and optional sedation for comfort
  • Includes wisdom teeth, broken teeth, and non-restorable decay
  • Gentle techniques promote faster healing and minimal discomfort
Wisdom Teeth Extraction

Wisdom teeth (third molars) often erupt in the late teens or early twenties. If there isn’t enough space in the jaw, they can become impacted, misaligned, or painful—and may need to be removed.

Common Reasons for Extraction:

  • Impaction (trapped in the jaw or gums)
  • Crowding or shifting of other teeth
  • Infection or gum inflammation
  • Tooth decay or cyst formation

What to Expect: The procedure is performed under local anesthesia, with sedation options available for your comfort. Most patients recover within a few days with proper care and minimal discomfort.

Benefits:

  • Prevents future dental complications
  • Reduces risk of infection and crowding
  • Promotes long-term oral health
Sinus Lifts

A sinus lift (sinus augmentation) is often needed before placing dental implants in the upper back jaw. It creates space by lifting the sinus membrane and placing bone graft material to support stable implant placement.

  • Enhances bone volume for implants in areas with bone loss
  • Improves long-term success of upper molar and premolar implants
  • Performed with precision and care in a sterile, comfortable setting
Ridge Augmentation

Rebuilding jawbone structure for a stable foundation

Ridge augmentation is a surgical procedure used to rebuild the natural contours of the jawbone after tooth loss, trauma, or bone resorption. It restores bone volume and shape to support future dental implants or improve the esthetic outcome of dental restorations.

Why It’s Done:

  • To rebuild bone where it has deteriorated
  • To prepare for successful implant placement
  • To enhance the appearance of the gums and jawline

How It Works: Bone graft material is placed in the affected area to promote natural bone regeneration. The site is then given time to heal and integrate before moving forward with implant placement or restorative work.

Benefits:

  • Restores lost bone volume and structure
  • Improves function, support, and esthetics
  • Increases success rates for dental implants

Ridge augmentation helps lay the groundwork for a strong, healthy, and natural-looking smile.

Smile Makeover & Gum Recontouring

Smile Makeover

Achieve a balanced, radiant smile with comprehensive cosmetic care

A smile makeover is a customized series of treatments designed to enhance the appearance of your teeth and gums for a more attractive, confident smile.

Gum recontouring –  (also known as gingival sculpting or crown lengthening) is a gentle, minimally invasive procedure that reshapes excess or uneven gum tissue. This helps to improve tooth proportion, correct a “gummy” smile, and create a more harmonious gum line.

Benefits:

  • Enhances tooth visibility and balance
  • Corrects uneven or excessive gum tissue
  • Improves overall smile aesthetics and symmetry
  • Often combined with whitening, veneers, or crowns for a complete transformation
  • Quick, comfortable procedure with minimal downtime

Together, these treatments provide a natural, beautiful smile tailored to your facial features and preferences.

Gingivectomy

Gentle removal of excess gum tissue to improve oral health and aesthetics – A gingivectomy is a dental procedure that involves the careful removal of excess or overgrown gum tissue. It is commonly performed to treat gum disease, reduce pockets between the teeth and gums, or enhance the appearance of a “gummy” smile.

Benefits:

  • Reduces gum pockets to help control infection and improve gum health
  • Removes excess gum tissue for a more balanced and attractive gum line
  • Facilitates better cleaning and maintenance of teeth and gums
  • Often completed quickly with local anesthesia and minimal discomfort

Gingivectomy helps restore healthy gums, prevent further periodontal issues, and enhance your smile’s overall appearance.

Crown Lengthening

Enhancing tooth structure for better function and aesthetics

Crown lengthening is a minor surgical procedure that removes excess gum tissue and, in some cases, bone to expose more of the tooth’s surface.

This treatment is often performed to:

  • Prepare a tooth for restorative procedures such as crowns or bridges
  • Improve the appearance of a “gummy” smile by revealing more natural tooth
  • Help access decayed or fractured areas below the gumline

Benefits:

  • Provides a stable foundation for dental restorations
  • Enhances smile aesthetics by balancing gum-to-tooth ratio
  • Facilitates better oral hygiene around the treated tooth
  • Typically performed with local anesthesia and minimal discomfort

Crown lengthening supports both the health and appearance of your teeth, setting the stage for long-lasting dental work.
